Ever wondered how we collaborate with Supported Independent Living (SIL) providers? We recognize the importance of collaborating with SIL providers who share our vision for enabling individuals to live independently while receiving the necessary supports. We explain our five simple steps for collaborating with SILs to set up the best care for you at home.

A Supported Independent Living provider is responsible for the care you receive in your home, assisting you with daily tasks to help you live independently.

At Vera Living, we put people first, always. We are a Specialist Disability Accommodation provider (SDA), providing SDA enrolled homes across Australia for people with disability. Once we’ve developed a premium home, we collaborate with a Supported Independent Living (SIL) provider to ensure the best supports in your home, when and how you choose.

Here are the five steps we take to ensure successful collaboration with SIL providers:

1. SIL Application

To work with Vera Living, SIL providers must complete a comprehensive application process. This involves answering a series of questions and providing evidence showing their commitment to quality service provision. They must showcase their adherence to practice standards, including policies supporting participant choice, control, and safety. We also require referee contacts to validate the provider’s track-record and service quality.

2. Due Diligence Review

Once the SIL application has been submitted, our Participant Engagement Manager and Legal team conduct a thorough due diligence review within a two-week period.

3. Collaboration Agreement:

When the provider has met the criteria outlined in the application and has passed the due diligence process, a collaboration agreement is created. This agreement outlines the expectations, rights, and conditions of the collaboration between Vera Living and the SIL provider. With the agreement in place, both parties can explore opportunities to collaborate on current or upcoming SDA properties.

4. Expression of Interest (EOI) and Allocation:

Approved SIL collaborators receive EOIs for future or upcoming Vera Living SDA properties. We prioritise SILs who ensure we align participant needs and preferences. Participants seeking tenancy in upcoming properties may recommend preferred SIL providers, facilitating a collaborative decision-making process.

5. Choice and Control:

Vera Living prioritize participant choice and control throughout the collaboration process. We put people first, always. We collaborate with a wide variety of SIL providers across the country, which means supports can meet different, and in some cases, very specialised support needs. This also enables Vera Living to act swiftly if changes arise where a new provider may be required to step in to a home.

In situations where a participant wishes to change providers, we have a clear procedure in place to support participants to exercise choice and will work with all parties to make this process as smooth as possible. Tailored support is provided based on the type of living arrangement (shared vs. independent living), ensuring individuals receive the desired level of support.

At Vera Living, our commitment to excellence extends beyond our luxury SDA offerings to encompass collaborative partnerships with SIL providers. Through a rigorous yet streamlined process, we ensure that individuals with disability receive the highest quality of support, enabling them to live independently with the lifestyle they deserve.
